When participating in a charity stream, it is critical to use all the features provided in your dashboard so you can raise the maximum amount of donations available from your followers.
We make this super easy for you to follow in this checklist. A perfect setup contains:
- Stats Overlay
- Incentive Overlay
- Alert Features
Learn more about how to locate these assets in your dashboard here.
You also need timed messages in your chat that remind your viewers of why and how they can donate to the nonprofit you choose. Walk them through the donation process every so often during your stream so they are aware of how to donate correctly and how simple it is.
Streams that follow our requirements are drastically more successful than those that don’t.
The stats and incentive overlays are displayed in a way that viewers can read and understand them. Viewers are constantly motivated to donate in order to receive the next incentive listed.
There is a timed message that informs and reminds viewers to DONATE:
This streamer constantly walks his viewers through the donation process and the website of the nonprofit itself to encourage them to donate to a cause so close to his heart:
Finally, adding even more fun to fundraising (ha!), Softgiving's giphy alert feature recognizes those that donated as well as display their personal message to the streamer:
The overlays are too small for the viewers to read. Why is this bad? Incentives are the biggest motivator for viewers to donate when they're watching a charity stream, so they should be displayed large and clear.
Of course, a charity stream with no overlays or no donate panel is no bueno- remember, your followers need to know why they should donate (your cause/incentives/milestones), and how (click your donation URL).
